According to the national sleep foundation, an average adult needs approximately (7-9) hours of sleep a day. While (7-9) hours of sleep is the average amount of sleep an adult should get, this really depends on various factors, such as age, genetics, activity levels, health, etc…. Since there are numerous factors that govern how much sleep a person needs there, is no definitive answer.
Sleep Quality Vs Quantity
Another factor that hugely impacts how much sleep a person needs is the quality of their overall sleep. If a person is getting very bad quality sleep, then to compensate their body would require more sleep. On the flip side if a person gets really high-quality deep sleep, then the number of hours their body would need to sleep for would be less.
Sleep requirement varies
How much sleep a person needs can vary up or down, there is no set number. Sometimes a person may find themselves on a particular day sleeping 5 hours and feeling energized and refreshed. On other days a person may sleep 9 hours and still feel tired! Just like the change seasons, sleep requirements can also change from time to time.
